Not yet reviewed. This is a reasonable starting point for a small UK contractor, but it is not legal advice and it must be checked against how the business actually works. Set legalReviewed: true in the site config to remove this notice.
Who these terms are between
These terms apply to work carried out by Cheshire Rooflines ("we", "us") for a customer ("you"). They sit alongside the written quote for your job. Where the quote says something different from this page, the quote wins, because it was written about your roof specifically.
Using this website
The content here, including the photographs of our own work, belongs to us. You are welcome to read it, print it and share a link to it. Please do not copy it onto another website. We keep the site accurate but we cannot promise it is complete or always available, and nothing on it is a binding offer until we have given you a written quote.
Quotes
Quotes are free and carry no obligation. A quote is valid for 30 days from the date on it unless it says otherwise, because material prices move. It is based on what we could see and reach on the day we inspected.
A quote becomes a contract when you accept it in writing, by email, text or by signing it, and we confirm the booking.
Prices and variations
The price in the quote is fixed and includes the access described in it, usually scaffold or tower, plus removal of waste. It is not a budget estimate that drifts.
The price changes only if something genuinely hidden turns up once the covering is off, such as rotten rafters or structural damage that could not have been seen from the loft or the ground, or if you ask for extra work. In either case we will stop, show you, explain what it needs, and give you the revised figure in writing. We will not carry out extra work or charge you for it until you have agreed.
Unless the quote says otherwise, prices include VAT where it applies.
Payment
Payment terms are stated on your quote. For larger jobs we may ask for a deposit against materials, which will be set out in writing before you commit. The balance is due on completion. We do not ask for payment in full before work starts.
Your right to cancel
Where we have quoted and you have accepted away from our business premises, which includes at your home and at a distance by phone or email, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of entering into the contract, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. You do not need to give a reason. Tell us by email or phone and we will confirm it.
If you have asked us in writing to start work inside those 14 days, which is common with a leak, you can still cancel, but you must pay for the work already done and the materials already ordered up to that point.
After the 14 days, cancellation is by agreement. If scaffold has gone up or non-returnable materials have been ordered, we will ask you to cover that cost and nothing more.
Access and the site
We need safe access to the property, to the roof and usually to the loft. Please let us know in advance about parking restrictions, alarms, pets, vulnerable occupants or anything fragile near the work. Where possible, move vehicles and garden furniture clear before we arrive.
We work to current safety standards and we are fully insured with Simply Business. We will not work on a roof in conditions that make it unsafe, which occasionally means a job moves by a day or two in bad weather. We will keep you posted rather than leave you wondering.
We clear up as we go and take waste away. Roofing is dusty work and there will be a skip or a grab lorry on larger jobs.
Guarantees
Our workmanship is guaranteed in writing, with the term stated on your quote before you accept it. Materials carry their manufacturer's own warranty on top, which is usually considerably longer.
The guarantee covers our work. It does not cover storm damage, accidental damage, work later altered by someone else, failure of a part of the roof we did not touch, or ordinary wear on a covering that was already near the end of its life and which we told you about at the time.
If something we fitted fails within the guarantee, tell us and we will come back and put it right.
If something goes wrong
Ring 07470 988 330 or email [email protected] and tell us. We would always rather hear about a problem early. We will acknowledge within two working days and come and look at it.
You can also raise it through TrustATrader, where our membership (TT26090) and our rating are public. None of this affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which entitle you to work carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, for damage caused by a defect elsewhere on the property that we were not engaged to deal with, or for business losses.
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Photographs
We photograph roofs before, during and after work, as a record and so that you can see what we found. We may use these on this website and on social media. They do not identify you or your address. If you would rather we did not, say so and we will not.
Your data
How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy, and what this site stores in your browser is covered by our cookie policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
